This year I haven’t spent much time focused on blogging. I have had a lot of other things going on to keep me busy. Some travel, some personal stuff, and of course, work. Everyone can relate right? Other news that has slowly pulled me away from here is, I am about to be a father for the first time!

I had a great spring migration down at the slough. I’ve been trying to build out my YouTube channel. I can’t get out enough to satisfy my birding itch. I made the goal for the new year to eBird everyday. So far, so good. I did have to log one day without any birds at all. It was a rainy day on the cruise ship during a fun day at sea. Turns out rainy weather doesn’t make it exactly a fun day at sea on a cruise ship.

Incredible new tech just keeps coming for the birding community. I am trying the BirdWeather and HaikuBox bioacoustic devices. Both are amazing, but have pros and cons. But they line up with the Merlin app quite often in testing. More to come on those devices soon.

As I hope to start writing more, I probably spend more time working on YouTube content. You can find me there with the YouTube shorts from recent birding trips and product reviews.
